Every year over 100 million tonnes of textile waste are generated globally.
Despite this up to 15% of materials are lost before they become products — as off-cuts during manufacturing.
Less than 15% of textile waste is being recycled in any form.
Less than 1% is recycled into new textile materials.
Why?
Most existing solutions are designed for monomaterial textiles.
But real textile waste consists largely of blended and mixed materials.
As a result, the majority of these textiles become waste — they are downcycled, incinerated, exported, or stored in warehouses.

Material exploration
The concept of BROD-X material is developed in Ukraine by a group of material designers. Early samples and semi-manual processes established.
PHASE 2 · 2024
Engineering collaboration
Collaboration with Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) initiated. Core engineering team formed & Development of the first system architecture and early prototypes ongoing.
PHASE 3 · 2025
Project structuring & validation
BROD-X initiated as a structured project in Switzerland, Supported by Migros Pioneer Fund. Materials pass tests in laboratory conditions. Creation of a growing database of textile compositions and outputs ongoing.
PHASE 4 · 2025–2027
System development & early applications
Development of BROD-X System Model 1 with Swiss engineering partners started. Pilot collaborations with selected brands and industry partners ongoing. Small-scale production of BROD-X materials started. Creation of tailored material compositions for specific applications ongoing.
PHASE 5 · 2028
First industrial pilot
Launch of BROD-X System Model 1 Capacity: up to 150 sqm/day. Deployment in real production environment.
